Control driver app installations and versions

Admins can check which drivers have installed the OptimoRoute driver app, view activation keys, and manage driver app status in “Settings.” This article explains how to review and manage this information.

What is the OptimoRoute Driver app?

The OptimoRoute Driver app is the mobile app drivers use to receive and follow their assigned routes.

Each driver must activate the app before it can be linked to their driver profile in OptimoRoute. Activation connects that driver to the app using an activation key.

Once activated, the driver can receive routes and use the app for their assigned work.

If the app is not activated, or if the activation has been deactivated, OptimoRoute will show that there is no active mobile app associated with that driver.

Activation and status overview

The "Activation & status" overview shows. 

  • Which drivers have an activated driver app
  • Each driver's preferred navigation app
  • The device and operating system the driver is using
  • The driver's current app version
  • Which drivers need to update their app

To navigate to this section: 

  1. Go to "Administration→Settings"
  2. In the left menu, go to "Driver app"
  3. Select "Activation & status"

The table will show: 

Column Explanation
Name The driver's name.
Email The driver’s email address. OptimoRoute can use this address to send routes and activation information.
Activation Key

Shows the status of the driver’s activation key.

The “Activation Key” column can show:

  • An activation key if the driver has not entered it yet.
  • A dash if the activation key is active.
  • A message that the key has expired because it was not entered within the allowed time.
  • An “Activate” link that generates a new key.

Mobile app status

This column tells you if the key is in use or not. 

  • No Mobile App:  No activated mobile app is associated with this driver. This status also appears after an activation key is deactivated. It does not mean the driver has not downloaded the app.
  • Key Created: An activation key has been generated but has not been used.
  • Key Sent: An activation key has been generated and sent to the driver’s email address, but it has not been used.
  • Activated: The driver app was activated successfully. The driver can receive routes and use the app.
  • Activated - Needs Update: The app is activated and the driver can receive routes, but the installed version is out of date and should be updated.

App Version

Shows the version of the app the driver is using.

In case of outdated apps, the Administration menu will show a red dot and there will be a warning on the top of the table. 
Device OS Shows the operating system running on the driver’s device.
Navigation

Shows the driver’s selected navigation app. You can also change the preferred navigation from this column.

To change the preferred navigation app, click directly on the “Navigation” column and choose an option from the dropdown: 

If the driver changes the default navigation in the driver app, this column updates to reflect that choice.

Note: If a navigation option appears in gray italics, for example "OptimoRoute Navigation ", the setting has not been applied yet. This can happen if:

  • The driver is offline.
  • The driver is using an older version of the driver app.
