Share your drivers' routes directly with them using the OptimoRoute Driver app. In order for drivers to connect this app to your dispatcher account, you'll need to provide them an activation key. In this article, you’ll learn how to enable and disable the driver app for your drivers.

Creating an activation key
First, your driver’s will need to have the OptimoRoute Driver app downloaded on their mobile phones. You can find the driver app on Google Play for Android or the App Store for Apple.
Once your drivers have the app downloaded, they will be required to input a 12 digit activation key.
To generate these keys:
- Go to Administration→Driver App in the top menu
- Choose the “Activation & status” option in the sub menu
- Select the driver(s) you want to generate a key for
- Optionally input the email of the driver to have the key automatically sent to their email
- Click “Activate” to generate the key
Activation keys remain valid as long as the driver stays logged in on the app.
It will become invalid if:
- The app is reinstalled or the device is reset.
- The driver is deleted or reactivated in the web panel.
- A new activation key is generated for that driver.
If any of these situations occur, you can generate a new key for them.
Sharing an activation key
Once the key is activated, you will need to share this key with your driver so that they can receive a route. To do this:
- Go to Administration→Driver App in the top menu
- Choose the “Activation & status” option in the sub menu
- Input the email address of the driver
- Select the driver
- Click “Activate” to send the generated key to the driver
Or you can copy and paste the key and send it to them that way.
Mobile app status
In the “Activation & status” table the is a column called "Mobile App Status" where you can see a few statuses that help you understand what the drivers are experiencing on their driver apps.

|---|---|
| No Mobile App | This status means that there is no activated mobile app associated with this driver. This is also the state when a mobile app key has been deactivated. This does not mean the driver has not downloaded the app. |
| Key Created | A key has been generated for this driver, but the key has not been used yet. |
| Key Sent | A key has been generated for this driver, and was sent to their corresponding email address. However, the key has not yet been used. |
| Mobile App Activated | The activation was successful. The driver can now receive routes from you and use the app. |
Deactivating the driver app
If your drivers have an OptimoRoute Driver app associated with your account and you want to revoke their access or change their key, you can deactivate them.
To deactivate their app:
- Go to Administration→Settings in the top menu
- Click “Driver App” in the left menu
- Choose the “Activation & status” option in the sub menu
- Select the driver(s) you want to revoke access from
- Click “Deactivate” to remove access
By deactivating a driver, they will no longer have access to their routes, and they will need to go through the activation process again if you want to re-instate them.
