Going on duty
Drivers must go On Duty to start their work in the mobile app. When On Duty is enabled, the app activates all route-related features, including completing orders, using navigation, and (if enabled by your organization) sharing location updates.
To go "On Duty", use the toggle in the top-right corner of the main screen, or access it from the "Settings" menu.

Only drivers can go on or off duty from their mobile apps. Dispatchers cannot perform this action. |
"On Duty" status and analytics reporting
When a driver is "On Duty" and location tracking is enabled, their GPS data is used to generate route insights and performance metrics in OptimoRoute, including breadcrumbs (the path the driver has traveled), actual travel times, route distances, service times, and overall driver activity. This data also supports live tracking and customer notifications, such as accurate ETAs and “Driver On the Way” updates.
For accurate reporting and real-time updates, drivers should go "On Duty" when they are ready to begin driving their route and switch "Off Duty" once their work is complete.
For example, breadcrumbs are tracked when a driver goes "On Duty" until they mark themselves as "Off Duty." If a driver goes "On Duty" late (for example, near the first stop), tracking data may be incomplete, which can result in missing breadcrumbs, inaccurate reports, or delays in live tracking and notifications.
