What is live ETA and driver tracking?
Live ETA and driver tracking show you how active routes are progressing in real time from the "Live" dashboard.
OptimoRoute uses information from the driver app to update the estimated arrival time for each order on an active route. If an order starts or ends earlier or later than planned, ETAs for later orders are recalculated automatically.
This helps you spot delays, see when a driver is ahead of schedule, and understand how changes during the day may affect later orders.
You can also share live ETAs with customers using real-time order tracking notifications.
| Tip: ETAs are most accurate when drivers regularly update order statuses in the driver app. OptimoRoute can also use GPS location and driving speed to update ETAs. |
Tracking live routes
After you optimize routes and send them to the OptimoRoute Driver App, you can track driver activity in real time.
Go to the "Live" tab to:
- View driver movement in the field
- Compare planned routes with the actual routes drivers take using breadcrumbs
- Check order status updates
- See whether drivers are on time
- View total distance traveled, time worked, and orders completed
Track driver locations
Use the "Live" dashboard to locate and follow drivers in the field. Each driver appears as a pin that matches the color of their assigned route.
See order statuses
As drivers work through their routes, you can see which orders are completed, rejected, or still pending.
See driver status
The driver panel on the left shows each driver's current status:
- "On duty" — The driver marked themselves on duty in the OptimoRoute Driver App and can be tracked.
- "Off duty" — The driver marked themselves off duty and can no longer be tracked.
- "Servicing" — The driver is working on an order. Hover over the info icon to see which order.
- "On the way" — The driver is traveling to an order. Hover over info icon to see which order.

Viewing live ETA information
After you optimize routes and send the schedule to your drivers, you can view live ETAs in the "Live" tab.
To view the live ETA information:
- Click on the "Live" tab
- Go to the table below the map
- Add/view the columns "Scheduled time", "Service start", "Service end", and "Actual duration"
The "Live" dashboard has a table where you can compare statuses and different order details. Use these columns to compare scheduled and actual times:
- "Scheduled time" — When the order was scheduled to start.
- "Service start" — When service actually started.
- "Service end" — When service actually ended.
- "Duration" — How long the order was planned to take.
- "Actual duration" — How long the order actually took to complete.
Expected times are listed in grey and will be updated automatically throughout the day, as soon as real-time information from the mobile apps is received.
Delays are shown in orange.
Orders running ahead of schedule appear in green.
View past live routes
OptimoRoute saves live plans in "Plan History" in the "Analytics" dashboard.
Use Plan History to review past routes and breadcrumbs. To compare planned and actual route performance over time, use the Planned vs. Actual report.
