What is live ETA and driver tracking?
This feature is built into OptimoRoute to give you visibility as to what is happening in the field at a glance. It will also give you an idea how these real-time ETAs affect future jobs. If the actual start or end time for a job is different from what was scheduled, the start and end times for that day’s future jobs will be recalculated.
Live ETAs can also be shared directly to customers using real-time order tracking notifications.
This information will be adjusted and updated automatically throughout the day – all you need to do is have the "Live" tab open to see how the day is progressing.
| Tip: The Live ETA feature will give you the most accurate results if your drivers regularly mark the status of their jobs via the mobile app. However, even when they don’t, their GPS locations and driving speeds are used to calculate, recalculate and update all of your job start and end times. |
Tracking live routes
Once your routes have been optimized and the schedule has been sent to the OptimoRoute Driver App, you can track driver activity in the field as it happens.
To track drivers, go to the "Live" tab. Here you can:
- View driver movement in the field
- See both planned routes and the actual routes taken by drivers using breadcrumbs
- Order status updates
- "On Time" status of drivers
- An overview of total distance traveled, time worked, and orders completed
Track driver locations
Locate and follow drivers in the field by using the "Live" tab. Each driver will be represented by a pin that is the same color as their route.
See order statuses
As drivers complete their routes, you can see which orders are completed, rejected, or not done yet.
See driver status
You can see what drivers are doing at any moment from the driver panel on the left. The statuses are:
- On duty - The driver has marked themselves "On Duty" from the OptimoRoute Driver app, and they are actively trackable.
- Off duty - The driver has marked themselves "Off Duty" from the OptimoRoute Driver app, and they can no longer be tracked.
- Servicing - The driver is currently working on an order. You can see which order they are working on by clicking on the info icon.
- On the way - The driver is en route to an order. You can see which order they are driving to by clicking on the info icon.

Viewing live ETA information
Once your routes have been optimized and the schedule has been sent to your drivers, you can view the live ETA in the "Live" tab.
To view the live ETA information:
- Click on the "Live" tab
- Go to the table below the map
- Add/view the columns "Scheduled time", "Service start", "Service end", and "Actual duration"
Reading the table
The columns are defined as follows:
- "Scheduled time" is when the order was planned to be serviced
- "Service start" shows when the service actually began
- "Service end" shows when the service actually ended
- "Actual duration" will show the length of time that a job actually took
Expected times are listed in grey and will be updated automatically throughout the day, as soon as real-time information from the mobile apps is received.
Delays are shown in orange
And jobs running early are shown in green.
