Order duration is the time it takes to complete an order. Though not required, this field helps make your planned route times more accurate. In this article, we will show you how to set up order duration and how it can be used in reporting.

What is order duration?
Order duration is the time it takes to complete an order.
As a dispatcher, you can set the planned order duration in order to have more accurate routes. Once a route is live and the driver uses the OptimoRoute Driver app, the order duration is updated based on the actual time it takes to complete the order.
Setting order duration
To add duration to an order, you can do this either through:
- Editing the order
- Importing the information
- Using the API
Editing order duration
To add a duration:
- Go to "Plan & Optimize"
- Select the order or orders you want to add a duration to
- Click "Edit order"
- In the "Duration" input, set the time in minutes. You can also use decimals if you need smaller intervals.
- Click "Save"
When editing a single order, the duration field is located underneath the "Location" field in "Basic Info".
When editing multiple orders, the duration field is located under the "Assign to" field in "Basic Info".
Importing order duration
To import durations on orders:
- Add a column to your spreadsheet that denotes duration
- Go to "Plan & Optimize"
- Click "Import Orders"
- Drop in your spreadsheet
- Map that column to the "Duration" field in OptimoRoute
- Continue through the import process
