What is "On Duty" status?
“On Duty” tells OptimoRoute that you're working on your route.
When you're “On Duty,” you can use route features in the driver app, including:
- Viewing and completing orders
- Starting navigation to stops
- Sharing your location, if location tracking is enabled
When you finish your route, switch to “Off Duty” to stop sharing your location and end your work session.
Go on or off duty
You can change your duty status directly in the OptimoRoute driver app.
To go on or off duty:
- Open the OptimoRoute Driver app.
- Tap the “On Duty” toggle in the top-right corner of the main screen, or find it under “Settings.”
- Turn the toggle on to go “On Duty” or off to go “Off Duty.”

Only drivers can change their duty status in the mobile app. Dispatchers cannot change it for them. |
How "On Duty" status affects tracking and reporting
When you're “On Duty” and location tracking is enabled, OptimoRoute collects GPS data to track your route and measure performance.
This data supports:
- Route breadcrumbs: See the path you've traveled.
- Travel times and distances: Record how long and how far you've driven.
- Service times: Track time spent at stops.
- Live tracking: Share your location with dispatchers.
- Customer notifications: Provide updated arrival times and “Driver On the Way” notifications.
For accurate tracking and reporting:
- Go “On Duty” when you're ready to start driving your route.
- Stay “On Duty” while working on your route.
- Go “Off Duty” when you've finished your work.

If you go “On Duty” after starting your route, OptimoRoute may miss part of your trip. This can lead to missing breadcrumbs, inaccurate reports, or delayed tracking updates and customer notifications. |
