Change route times for a specific day

You can temporarily change a route’s start or end time for a specific day. This can help when a driver is delayed or needs to start earlier than usual. This article explains how to update the route time without changing the driver’s regular schedule.

Change route start and end time

You can temporarily change a route’s start or end time for a specific day without changing the driver’s regular working hours.

Use the “Planning Settings” window to make this change. You can update the time before a route is created or replan an existing route with the new time.

To do this: 

1. Go to Plan and Optimize
2. Click “Plan Routes” 

3. In “Planning Settings" window, update the start time, end time, or both.

4. Review the “Allowed Changes” planning settings (see more detailed information below)

5. Click “Plan” to replan the routes using the updated time

Below we will look at each of these steps in more detail.

To permanently change a driver’s route start or end time, update the driver’s working hours in the driver settings. This affects future routes but does not change the current day’s route.

Adjusting times in planning settings

In the “Planning Settings” window, you can update the working hours used for that planning run. What you see depends on whether weekly planning is enabled for your account.

Choose allowed changes before replanning

Before you replan an existing route, review the “Allowed Changes” setting.

To keep existing orders with their current drivers, select: “Keep planned orders with current drivers, fit in new orders.”

With this option, OptimoRoute:

• Keeps planned orders assigned to their current drivers.
• Keeps the existing route sequence where possible.
• Fits unscheduled orders into the existing routes when possible.
• Updates the route to use the new start or end time.

Any orders that break constraints will be removed from the routes. Replanning can unschedule orders that no longer fit the route constraints. For example, an order may be unscheduled if its time window is no longer compatible with the new route start or end time.
