Copying and pasting orders for import
This is a quick and easy way to get a list of orders into OptimoRoute. However, keep in mind that this method doesn't allow for mapping of other fields to enrich your orders fully. To do this, consider using the spreadsheet import method.
This method requires: a list of addresses, and must be imported one-per-row. Comma separated addresses will not be accepted.
Step 1: Copy/paste orders
If you're ready with a list of address to copy/paste for import, follow these steps:
- Go to the "Plan and Optimize" tab
- Click on the blue "Import Orders" button underneath the map
- In the "Import Orders" window, there is a space below the dropzone for spreadsheets where you can paste the list of addresses
- Choose the date you want to import these orders (found under where you pasted the addresses)
- Choose the duration of the orders
- Click "Import"
Step 2: Location accuracy check
Before completing the import, you will have a chance to review all the orders that will be imported. During this step it is critical to make sure that all your locations are being identified correctly - focus on the ones written in red and yellow. Therefore, the Location Accuracy column should be checked before saving.
Possible statuses are:
Status | Meaning |
Matching Location ID | An existing location with the same location ID was found in the system. |
Matching Location | An existing location with the same address and name was found in the system |
GPS Coordinates | A new location will be created using supplied latitude and longitude coordinates. |
Geocoded | A new location will be created in the system using the supplied address. |
Geocoded, Multiple Results Found | A new location will be created using the supplied address, but multiple results have been found for the supplied address – this should be checked before saving to make sure the right location is mapped. |
Geocoded, Partial Match | A new location will be created using the supplied address, but found result is only a partial match to the supplied address – this should be checked before saving to make sure the right location is mapped. |
Not Found | The address could not be found and will not be imported. The location needs to be manually corrected in order to be included in the import. |
Correcting location errors
To check and correct any location warnings :
- Look at the top of the "Review Imported Orders" screen and find the "Import orders summary" screen to see if there are any errors or warnings.
- If there are any, you can sort the "Location Accuracy" column to bring them to the top
- Double-click on the warning
- Make the necessary changes in the "Edit location" window (by editing the Address or moving the pin on the map)
- Click "Save"
- Repeat these steps for any errors or warnings
When you are satisfied with all the orders, click on “Save” to complete the import and save all the locations.
If you do not want to proceed with the import, you can click "Discard" and no locations or orders will be added.
