Copy and paste orders for import
Copying and pasting is a quick way to add a list of orders to OptimoRoute.
This method only supports addresses. You cannot map additional order fields. To include more order details, use the spreadsheet import method.
Before you start:
- Prepare a list of addresses.
- Put each address on a separate row.
- Do not use a comma-separated list of addresses.
Step 1: Copy/paste orders
When your list of addresses is ready:
- Go to the "Plan and Optimize" tab
- Click on the blue "Import Orders" button underneath the map
- In the "Import Orders" window, there is a space below the dropzone for spreadsheets where you can paste the list of addresses
- Choose the date you want to import these orders (found under where you pasted the addresses)
- Choose the duration of the orders
- Click "Import"
Step 2: Location accuracy check
Before you finish the import, review the orders and confirm that OptimoRoute matched each address to the correct location.
Check the “Location Accuracy” column before you save the import. Pay special attention to locations shown in red or yellow.
Possible statuses are:
| Status | Meaning |
| Matching Location ID | An existing location with the same location ID was found in the system. |
| Matching Location | An existing location with the same address and name was found in the system |
| GPS Coordinates | A new location will be created using supplied latitude and longitude coordinates. |
| Geocoded | A new location will be created in the system using the supplied address. |
| Geocoded, Multiple Results Found | A new location will be created using the supplied address, but multiple results have been found for the supplied address – this should be checked before saving to make sure the right location is mapped. |
| Geocoded, Partial Match | A new location will be created using the supplied address, but found result is only a partial match to the supplied address – this should be checked before saving to make sure the right location is mapped. |
| Not Found | The address could not be found and will not be imported. The location needs to be manually corrected in order to be included in the import. |
Correcting location errors
To check and correct any location warnings :
- At the top of the “Review Imported Orders” screen, check the "Location Accuracy" column for errors or warnings.
- Double-click the location with the warning or click "Edit"
- In the “Edit location” window, correct the address or move the pin on the map.
- Click “Save.”
Repeat these steps for any remaining errors or warnings.
When you are ready to complete the import, click “Save.” OptimoRoute will import the orders and save the locations.
Cancel import
To cancel the import, click “Discard.” No orders or locations will be added.
