Custom fields gives dispatchers the ability to add and communicate more information to their order that isn’t already available in the standard fields that OptimoRoute provides. In this article, we will show you how to create and use custom order fields.

Creating custom fields
Custom fields are one of the many order field types that help you define an order. These fields are customizable.
To add custom fields to an account:
- Go to Administration→Settings in the top right menu
- Choose “Orders” in the left menu
- Choose “Custom fields” from the submenu

Check box to activate the field for use in your account

Click “Save” in the top right corner
Custom fields currently cannot be created upon import.
Updating custom field values on an order
Now that the custom fields have been created an activated for use in your account, you can now use these fields to enrich your orders. There are two ways to update the values for these custom order fields:
- Through import
- By editing an order
Importing custom field values
When you are importing, the custom fields will now appear for mapping.
To update custom order field values on import:
- Include the values in your spreadsheet in a column that corresponds to your custom field
- Map the custom field by choosing it from the "Custom" subsection
- Import as normal
Editing custom fields on orders
To change the custom fields of a specific order:
- Go to "Plan and Optimize"
- Double-click on the order you want to edit
- Select "Details" from the left menu in the window
- Add or edit the values of the custom fields
- Click "Save"
Deleting custom fields
To delete custom fields:
- Go to Administration→Settings in the top right menu
- Choose “Orders” in the left menu
- Choose “Custom fields” from the submenu
- Go to the custom field you want to delete
- Erase the name
Data from deleted custom fields remain in the past/history of the account and past orders.
