Send routes to the driver app

When your routes are ready for your drivers, you can send them directly to the OptimoRoute driver app. This can either be done manually, or on a delayed send. In this article, we will cover how to send routes to your drivers.

Benefits of sending to the driver app

Sending routes to the OptimoRoute Driver app enables you to:

• Provide all the information to one place: Drivers will have order info, schedule and even navigation
• Fast communication with your drivers: Orders are updated on-the-go, including failed deliveries as well as confirmations of completion 
• Lightweight, low-data-usage app: Works on low-cost phones, with small data plans 
• Works in areas with little or no cell service: If a driver goes offline, data will still be captured and transferred when service coverage or wifi is returned. 
• Data is shared: As drivers complete their routes, you will receive data back from them that you can view in the live map and analytics area 

Sending routes same day

You can send routes directly to your drivers' OptimoRoute app on their mobile phones. Make sure your drivers have their mobile apps activated.

You can do this by:

1. Click the "Share routes" button
2. Choose "Send to driver app"
3. Review your routes
4. Click "Send now"

Your drivers will be notified when a new route is available for them in their OptimoRoute driver app. 

You can also locate the “Send routes” shortcut option from the black bar under the map.

A notification will appear on the screen to confirm that the routes have been sent successfully, and the drivers will receive their routes via the driver app. 

Delayed send

If your drivers run on different schedules or you want to avoid sending shifts at a time that overlaps with your personal hours, you can now set a time for drivers’ routes to be sent to them at a moment that’s convenient for you.

To do this: 

1. Click the "Share routes" button
2. Options for delayed sending will appear including "Send tonight" and "Send tomorrow morning", choose your preferred schedule
3. Click on the time to change it
4. Click "Send"
